This website has been bombarded with the question “Is this just about one black actor playing one Northern European God?” The answer is no. The reason we are boycotting this movie goes much deeper. Marvel Studio’s re-wrote the entire history of northern Europe and marginalized white people as a race in the movie.
Asgard, the realm of the Germanic/Norse gods, is given a complete multi-cultural and multi-racial make-over. The Einherjer are Germanic/Norse heroes who died in battle and were carried to the hall of Valhalla in Asgard by the Valkyries. Marvel Studios depicts the Einherjer as a being white, black, and Asian. This implies that Northern Europe was not only chock full of Asians and blacks, but that blacks and Asian were performing heroic deeds in Northern Europe. Two actors are listed as “Einherjer” in the movies’ credits. One is black and one is Korean.
To depict these men as slain Viking heroes is tantamount to slander against generations of our ancestors. It is a highly offensive form of political correctness. Casting a black man to play Heimdall is only the tip of the iceberg.
These are not “just some fictional stories.” This was once the religion of all Germanic Northern Europeans. This includes the Anglo-Saxons, of whom a large percentage of Americans, Canadians, and Australians are descended. Even after their conversions to Christianity, these Gods remained literary and cultural icons of Europe. Four of the seven days of our week in English, Dutch, Danish, Norwegian, and Swedish are named after these Gods. Three of the days of the week in the German language are also named after these Gods.
Another common question I get is “How can you be sure that the decisions made by Marvel were politically motivated?”
Marvel Studios is most well known for it’s X-Men franchise. The movies are highly political. It is about two factions of “mutants” fighting about how to respond to their enemies in the government. It is clear that the viewers are intended to see white Republican types as the true enemies of the “mutants.”
There is much more to say about this. Executive Producer of Thor, and Marvel icon, Stan Lee has personally funded Hillary Clinton and Ted Kennedy. It is very clear where his bias lies. Thor Producer, and Marvel Studio’s president of production, Kevin Feige told reporters that politics influences the content they put in movies.
Ashley Miller, one of the writers for the movie Thor, is described by imd.com as politically active and the “scourge of the establishment.” Clearly a code word for being a left-wing radical.
It would be foolish to suggest that Marvel Studios does not have a political agenda, or that this agenda did not influence their decision to give Asgard an insulting politically correct re-write.
